Fundamentals of Sandplay Therapy I - David Capitolo, MFT, CST-T and Lynne Ehlers, Ph.D., CST-T

This introductory sandplay course will cover the history and origins of sandplay therapy, Jungian theory and Buddhist spirituality, Kalffian theory and its differentiation from other uses of sandplay therapy; practical considerations in the creation and maintenance of a sandplay collection and the therapist’s role in sandplay therapy.  Using case material of both children and adults, we will discuss twenty ways to “read” a tray and examine a sandplay therapy case in depth.

 Earn 6 hours of continuing education credits, APT hours, and/or STA certification hours.

DAVID CAPITOLO, MFT, CST-T, is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and certified with Sandplay Therapists of America.  His clients include adults, children, adolescents and GLBT.  He co-founded the Child Therapy Institute of Marin and is a founding member of the Northern California Regional Sandplay Society.  David is interested in fathering and Initiation into manhood rituals and has published in the Journal of Sandplay Therapy.

LYNNE L. EHLERS, Ph.D., CST-T, is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice with adults in Albany and San Francisco, California.  She is a Teaching Member (CST-T) of Sandplay Therapists of America and the International Society for Sandplay Therapy. She has worked with sandplay since 1977, teaches sandplay and dream symbolism, presents at sandplay conferences nationally and internationally, and has published several articles in the Journal of Sandplay Therapy and other publications.
